Do you have a Personal Umbrella policy?
It is very important to understand that most umbrella policies DO NOT cover uninsured motorists. An umbrella is meant to cover any property damage or bodily injury you cause. In a case where an uninsured or underinsured motorist causes an accident and does not have the coverage required to pay for your injuries or your property damage, you would typically need to have uninsured/underinsured motorist’s coverage in place to receive that benefit.
Most policies do not cover it.
All Umbrella policies vary in what they exclude. It is important to know what is excluded under your umbrella. Some may exclude claims for internet usage, some may exclude animals or pets. It is really important to have your umbrella reviewed and designed to meet your individual needs.
If you have an umbrella, review it with the Speakman Agency. If you do not have an umbrella, you need one.
